SharePoint centralizes your documents, but heavy PDF work often forces context-switching. airSlate’s PDF Editor removes that friction: you launch the editor from SharePoint, make changes (or add form fields), route for eSignature, and the finished file lands right back in your library—complete with audit trails and automation hooks.

Key capabilities (outcome-focused)

  • Edit, annotate, and format PDFs in place
Open from a SharePoint list/library and change text, add images/shapes, insert pages, or rearrange content.
  • Redact & protect sensitive data
Black-out PII or confidential terms before sharing; apply watermarks when needed.
  • Merge/split documents for clean packages
Combine proposals, SOWs, and POs; or split large scans into sections without exporting from SharePoint.
  • Add fillable fields & turn PDFs into forms

Route to one or many signers, track status, and store executed copies back in SharePoint—powered by airSlate SignNow.
  • No-code automation with SharePoint data
Prefill documents from SharePoint list items, generate documents, send for eSign, and archive the results—end-to-end, no code.
  • Security & compliance
Support for major frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA) and detailed audit trails to help meet governance requirements.

30-minute quickstart

  1. Install from AppSource (airSlate PDF Editor) and enable the List View Command set (e.g., sendFileToPDFEditor, sendFileToPDFEditorAndReplace).
  2. Open a PDF from your SharePoint library using the airSlate command.
  3. Edit the file: fix text, insert/delete pages, add comments or watermarks.
  4. Add fillable fields (text, dates, checkboxes, signature). Save.
  5. Send for eSignature with airSlate SignNow (single or multi-signer). Track status.
  6. Auto-save back to SharePoint and attach to the original list item or library folder.
  7. (Optional) Automate: prefill from list columns, trigger flows on status change, and archive signed PDFs—all no-code.

When to pick it vs. when not to

Pick airSlate if…

  • Your users already work in SharePoint and need in-place PDF edits + eSign.
  • You want prefill from list data, automatic filing, and audit trails without custom code.

Consider another approach if…

  • You only need occasional edits and don’t use SharePoint libraries or lists.
  • Your org mandates a different eSignature provider across all workloads.

Real workflows (SOPs you can copy)

  • Contract clean-up before signature: Open draft → redact sensitive sections → add signer fields → route for signatures → auto-file signed PDF to the contract library.
  • List-driven document generation: From a SharePoint list item, prefill a template (NDA/PO) → send for eSign → save the executed copy and update list status.
  • Creative approvals with watermarking: Watermark proofs, collect multi-party approvals, keep an audit trail in the SharePoint record.
